Our commitment
As the operator of this website, we strive to make our digital offers accessible in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG). The technical design follows the WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 guidelines (conformance level AA). Our goal is that everyone – regardless of their physical or technical abilities – can discover and buy the photos of Wernigerode.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the requirements mentioned above due to the following non-compliances and exceptions.
Known barriers
Despite our efforts, the following barriers have been identified in the current WordPress-based system:
- Alternative text for images: As this is an image-focused website, not all decorative or informative images (especially in the shop galleries) may yet have the necessary descriptive alt text.
- Links without context: Some links in the web shop (e.g. “Learn more” or “Read more”) are difficult to understand for screen readers without the surrounding text.
- Third-party content: Embedded maps or external shop modules (e.g. for the print service) can only be made accessible by us to a limited extent.
- Keyboard operation: In complex menus or the checkout process, the focus order may partly differ from the visual order.
- Non-descriptive links: buttons or links that only say “Learn more” or “Click here” without the context becoming clear to a screen reader (which often only reads out lists of links).
Preparation and review
